Product information "Calibration at varying air pressure"
WindGuard operates the only commercially used pressurized wind tunnel worldwide where a measurement of pressure-induced effects on wind sensor performance is possible!
The wind tunnel itself is comprised of a sheet metal construction with a closed test section that is hermetically sealed, thus enabling a variation of internal air pressure. Therefore, pressure-induced effects on the anemometer can be measured rather than estimated based on theoretical assumptions.
For the standard procedure, the measurement is performed at an air velocity of about 4 m/s to 15.5 m/s with 2 m/s increments. The measurements are done at an air pressure of 700 hPa up to 1100 hPa with 50 hPa steps. Normally, the measurements are performed at a constant air temperature of about 10 °C to be able to cover an air density range of about 0.86 to 1.35.

Note: This density range covers the influence parameter range given in IEC 61400-50-1:2022, previously IEC 61400-12-1:2017 for the classification of anemometers.
On customer request, the measurements can also be performed at a different air temperature and for a different increment size. The pressure range can be reduced, an increase is not possible.
